Unfortunate Christmas Tragedy: One dead in San Francisco Zoo mauling (Dec. 26 2007)

One person was killed and two were injured at the zoo on Christmas day.

A large tiger escaped and was later killed as it mauled a victim.  Police are continuing to search the area for other possible victims. The zoo is closed today.

Heh heh. Great minds think alike, Reechard. I posted this on the tiger incident not too long ago.. I wonder what your take on it is.....

Thanks for that! I spent some time on other Vox blogs regarding that story, and one was really awful, gloating over the human death and claiming brutality by the "cops." That was of course before anything at all was known!

Only one blog was that extreme, but there was alot of sick cheer leading in the commentary :(

And it was a tragedy all around...I loved that zoo, too. I remember when we first moved to SF, my son had just started high school. He was feeliing blue and out of place and we went to the zoo. It really helped put him to rights and he loves it here, now. I do remember that they had said they wer going to buiild a better area for the silverbacks. It never happened. The mismanagement makes me sick most of all....(sigh)
